When choosing a ceiling fan for your home it is important to remember and ask the question what features are right for me! To help you decide we have listed a few things to look out for when selecting a ceiling fan for your home or investment property. 

TYPES

Pedestal fans are a great choice to add some extra decorative value to your home whilst giving you the option of moving these fans around making them a popular choice for a quick cooling solution during the winter months. Another plus from using a pedestal fan is that they can be easily packed up and taken with you should you move home and not want to leave you baby behind. 

Hang-sure fans are popular among most builders and electricians for the convenience of quick installation and easy access to wiring terminals. This is of course down to preference and doesn't really affect you as a consumer but it's worth baring in mind that the hang-sure version are more common and make life easier for those installing!

So many choices, but why LED ?

So I guess you have heard all the latest hype in the media about energy savings and the advancement of LED Bulbs and LED Downlights?  With so many choices in the market and variations of lighting we though we would offer a few good tip and facts about LED Lighting products available from Prima Luce.

WHAT?

LED stands fro Light Emitting Diode which is a small semiconductor chip which illuminates from the movement of electrons that excite the components within producing a usable light source. A phosphor coating is applied during the manufacturing process that determines the colour temperature of the LED Light.  The colour temperature is also known as the Kelvin, for example a high colour temperature of 5000K - 6000K would produce a slightly sharper blue tinge of light. A 4000K is commonly known as cool white which is close to natural daylight and mainly used in office spaces and commercial applications. 2700K -3000K is commonly known as Warm White which is most commonly used in residential homes and gives a nice warm ambient relaxed feel.

Benefits! 

LED Lighting is super efficient in terms of luminous flux (light output) combined with energy consumption and advancements in this technology of recent years have almost reached the benchmark of lumens produced when replacing traditional halogen light bulbs. 

For example, most homes currently use 35w or 50w MR16 or GU10 (240v) Halogen bulbs that produce between 550 lumens to 850 lumens. These new LED Light bulbs  have the light output to contend with your old traditional halogen lights and can used as a direct retro-fit replacement without the need of an electrician.

The power savings are incredible with a reduction in your lighting costs of over 80% is easily achievable. Running some calculations you can safely say that after purchasing your new LED light bulbs and installing them, the power savings would pay back the price of the bulbs in just over one year making them a sensible investment as they generally last between 3-5 years which means you get the full power savings of 80% + back in your pocket over an average 3 year period making a substantial saving on your power bills!

Marc Sadler who originally created the 'Twiggy Floor Lamp' which is a stunning piece of lighting furniture that the world seems to enjoy!

Born in Innsbruck on the 4th December 1946, Marc Sadler is an iconic French designer currently residing in Milan. Marc graduated from ENSAD in Paris 1968 and collaborated with a number of French businesses. He was heavily involved in the sports industry mainly working with the production and R&D of new materials to which he filed patents for some of his work.

in 1971 Marc Sadler moved to Italy and started to work on designer plastic ski boots in which he designed the Symmetric shell system for Caber.

What did it all mean?

 
 
Australia will cut at least 159 million tonnes per year of carbon pollution in 2020, which is the equivalent of taking 45 million cars off the road.

Australia received a price on carbon from 1 July 2012. It will be effective from 1 July 2012 through a cap-and-trade emissions trading scheme. It has triggered the transformation of our economy and will created incentives to reduce pollution and invest in clean energy.

The carbon price was not a tax on households. Around 500 of the biggest polluters in Australia will pay for the pollution they emit, under a carbon pricing mechanism. Many businesses and other entities now report their carbon pollution through the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme.
